An Indian genus of <em>Ursidæ</em>, characterized by the shaggy hide, protrusile lips, and fewer and smaller teeth than those of <em>Ursus</em>; honey-bears or sloth-bears. <em>M. labiatus</em> is the aswail (which see). <em>Prochilus</em> is a synonym.
